St.Mother Teresa visited our Museum and prayed here on April 25,1982.






The purpose of this museum

1 : 26 conveying the messages of the saints and other martyrs.
2 : The history of Christianity in Japan from the arrival of St. Francis Xavier to the Meiji period is introduced.
3 : It introduces the Christian culture that emerged from the encounter between Japan and southern Europe (Portugal, Spain and Italy).




About the 26 Saints'

The San Felipe incident in Japan in 1596 led to a ban on Christian missionary work in Japan.
This led to the capture of six Franciscan members (four Spaniards, one Mexican and one Portuguese) and 20 Japanese faithful who were in Kyoto and Osaka.
The 26 saints are these 26 believers.
